Bank of England Appoints New EDMC Chair and Deputy Chair
Starting 1 August 2026, Nicholas Segal will take on the role of Chair, while Peter King will be the Deputy Chair of the Enforcement Decision Making Committee (EDMC) at the Bank of England. This change comes after a search for external candidates. Segal has a rich background as a judge in places like the Cayman Islands, Bermuda, and Hong Kong, and King has valuable experience as a former partner at Linklaters and ex-Legal Director at HM Treasury. They replace Sir William Blair and Philip Marsden, whose terms ended in July 2026. David Roberts, the Chair of the Court, praised their qualifications. The EDMC is responsible for overseeing enforcement decisions and evaluating evidence in disputes.
