Bangkok Art Biennale 2022 reveals 73 artists and 12 venues for CHAOS : CALM edition
Marina Abramović, Antony Gormley, and Kimsooja are among 73 artists participating in the third Bangkok Art Biennale, opening 22 October 2022 across multiple Bangkok locations. The exhibition's theme CHAOS : CALM addresses global turbulence from the pandemic to climate change. Twelve venues include Bangkok Art and Culture Centre, Wat Pho, Wat Arun, and Museum Siam, with a digital BAB Virtual Space for online artworks. Artistic director Apinan Poshyananda leads a curatorial team including Nigel Hurst, Loredana Pazzini-Paracciani, Jirat Ratthawongjirakul, and Chomwan Weeraworawit. Abramović stated art offers hope and power in chaotic times. Other confirmed artists include Jake and Dinos Chapman, Tiffany Chung, Arthur Jafa, Jitish Kallat, Rachel Kneebone, Robert Mapplethorpe, and Xu Zhen. The biennale spans traditional temples and contemporary cultural centers throughout Thailand's capital.
