Bang Hai Ja retrospective opens at MMCA Cheongju for Korea-France ties
From April 24 to September 27, 2026, the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Korea (MMCA) will showcase "Bang Hai Ja: Sowing Light Across Heaven and Earth" at MMCA Cheongju. This exhibition pays tribute to Bang Hai Ja (1937–2022), an artist known for her influence on both Korean and French art. Coinciding with the 140th anniversary of diplomatic ties between Korea and France, the display features over half of its artworks sourced from collections in France, including the Centre Pompidou and Musée Cernuschi in Paris, many of which are being exhibited in Korea for the first time. Additional pieces will also be provided from the MMCA Collection.
