Baltimore Museum of Art Names Elizabeth J. Himelfarb Hurwitz as Board Chair

Elizabeth J. Himelfarb Hurwitz has been appointed as the new Board Chair of the Baltimore Museum of Art (BMA), taking over from James D. Thornton, who has served in this role since 2022. A Baltimore native and interior designer, Hurwitz has actively supported the arts and has held various leadership and volunteer positions at the BMA for more than ten years. She became a member of the BMA Board of Trustees in 2020 and has played a pivotal role in initiatives like the museum's 2026 strategic planning. Additionally, she has previously chaired the Board's Marketing and Audience Development Committee and has been a long-time member of the Accessions Committee for the Arts of Africa. Her leadership signifies a new era for the BMA as it continues to grow and strengthen its connections through art.
