Balloon Museum's Pop Air lands in Milan with inflatable art
The Balloon Museum, an itinerant exhibition of inflatable art, opens its Milanese edition at Superstudio in via Tortona 27, running until February 12, 2023. The show, titled Pop Air, features 18 international artists and collectives including ENESS, Cyril Lancelin, Penique Productions, Plastique Fantastique, Quiet Ensemble, Karina Smigla-Bobinski, Max Streicher, Geraldo Zamproni, Motorefisico, and Rub Kandy. Occupying 6,000 square meters, the exhibition presents oversized inflatable sculptures, interactive environments, and a swimming pool filled with plastic balls. The Balloon Museum previously drew over a million visitors in Rome and Paris, and won Best Proprietary Format at the 2022 Best Event Awards, as well as second place for Best Cultural Event worldwide. Organizers aim for 200,000 visitors in Milan, with 35,000 pre-bookings already secured before opening. The exhibition taps into the trend of immersive, Instagram-friendly art experiences, following the Museum of Dreamers that opened in Milan's Duomo area in September 2022.
