Bahrain Wins Golden Lion at Venice Architecture Biennale 2025

During the 19th International Architecture Exhibition – La Biennale di Venezia, Bahrain's pavilion, "Heatwave," snagged the Golden Lion for Best National Participation. Curated by Andrea Faraguna, this exhibit addresses the rise in global temperatures by highlighting traditional cooling techniques and sustainable methods. The jury included notable figures like Hans Ulrich Obrist, Paola Antonelli, and Mpho Matsipa. Key players in the project were Faraguna, Wafa Al Ghatam, Eman Ali, Alexander Puzrin, and Mario Monotti, all under the leadership of His Excellency Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed bin Abdullah Al Khalifa. Bahrain previously won this honor in 2010. The Holy See and Great Britain received special mentions, while Diller Scofidio + Renfro's Canal Café won the main Golden Lion.
