Bahrain Pavilion Wins Venice Architecture Biennale Golden Lion, Han Nefkens and Eye Filmmuseum Announce Awards
The pavilion of the Kingdom of Bahrain, named Heatwave and curated by architect Andrea Faraguna, won the Golden Lion for Best National Participation at the 2025 Venice Architecture Biennale. In late May, the Han Nefkens Foundation granted its 2025 Moving Image Commission to artists John Torres and Shireen Seno from Manila, marking a historic achievement as it is the first time artists from the Philippines have been honored by this program. Additionally, New Delhi-based photographer and filmmaker Sohrab Hura was announced as the 11th recipient of the annual Eye Art & Film Prize by Amsterdam's Eye Filmmuseum, which includes a prize of EUR 30,000 (USD 33,000). These developments underscore notable global acknowledgment in architecture and moving image arts.
