Bahrain Art Week Paris Debuts at Grand Palais and Rabouan Moussion Gallery

festival-fair · 2026-05-04

Following successful editions in London, Moscow, and Mumbai, the first Bahrain Art Week Paris will take place from September 13 to 22, 2018, at the Grand Palais and Rabouan Moussion Gallery in the Marais. The event is organized by Art Bahrain Across Borders (ArtBAB), a contemporary art fair founded in 2015 by collector and curator Kaneka Subberwal under the patronage of Princess Sabeeka Bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa of the Kingdom of Bahrain. Its goal is to introduce established and emerging Bahraini artists to international collectors. The theme, "The Legacy and the Contemporary Memory," explores how Bahraini artists transform 5,000 years of cultural heritage into 21st-century narratives. Seventeen artists have been selected for the Paris week. Previous Bahrain Art Week editions in London (2016 at the Victoria & Albert Museum) and London again (2017 at the Saatchi Gallery) featured 15 artists each. In 2017, ArtBAB-promoted galleries also participated in Cosmoscow in Russia. The Paris edition is co-curated by Kaneka Subberwal and Corinne Timsit, co-founder and editor of Art Premium magazine and founder of Corinne Timsit Art Advisory (CT2A). Timsit noted that Bahrain's art scene is a crossroads of global contemporary expressions while remaining true to its heritage.
