Baguette Studio's Le Labo 1.0 wax lamps can be endlessly recycled

architecture-design · 2026-06-01

Paris-based Baguette Studio, founded by Philippe Gaud and Emma Lohner, has created Le Labo 1.0, a collection of wax lampshades that can be melted down and reused without material loss. The collection includes wall, pendant, and table lamps using a stainless-steel base and electrical components, with shades made from 400 or 800 grams of wax. The studio built its own rotational moulding machine from standard aluminium profiles to produce the lamps. The wax is a blend of beeswax and plant-based wax, 100% natural, with a melting point above 100°C. The nomadic machine can be disassembled for transport; it was shown at Milan design week 2026 at Alcova and Isola Design Gallery from 21 to 25 April. The project reinterprets industrial rotational moulding, typically used for plastics, to create sustainable, endlessly recyclable objects.
