BACO about photographs opens new photography space in Palermo
A new independent photography space, BACO about photographs, will open in Palermo on January 18, 2019, at via Giacalone, near Teatro Massimo. Founded by photographer and printer Andrea Campesi and curator Valentina Sestieri, the project began in late 2017 after the duo moved from Rome to Palermo. The space will share a building with Minimum, another photography venue opened in 2015, creating a thematic district. BACO focuses on material photography, offering both darkroom and digital lab services. The inaugural exhibition, 'La Quarta Parete' by Massimiliano Tommaso Rezza, explores self-representation in the age of social media. The opening follows Palermo's 2018 tenure as Italian Capital of Culture and hosting of Manifesta, with BACO seen as a lasting cultural outcome.
