BACH: Ex-Bocciofila in Bologna Transforms into Artists' House and Cultural Hub

The Leggere Strutture Hub project, launched in summer 2023, has transformed an abandoned bocce court at via Zanardi 230 in Bologna's semi-peripheral Navile district into BACH (Bologna – Art – Culture – Hub), a multidisciplinary arts center and artists' residence. The initiative, promoted by the association Leggere Strutture Art Factory (active since 2008), was developed in collaboration with Arci Bologna and Offside Pescarola, a social osteria run by Cooperativa Idee in Movimento since 2019. BACH officially opens on Sunday, September 28, and opens its doors to the public the following day. The hub will serve as a Casa degli Artisti dedicated to performing arts and live shows, while also offering cultural, social, and community activities for all ages. The project aims to create a national and international bridge for open and democratic art education. Funding comes from the European Union (under the social innovation support call DGR 1287/2023), the Emilia-Romagna Region (which covered about half of the total renovation costs of €250,000), and sponsorship from Marchesi Movimento Terra. The center will host artists and performances at the inauguration, and later will focus on production, research, and training for emerging talents, as well as programming for families, children, adolescents, people with disabilities, and the elderly.
