Baba Jaga Fest: Rome's New Comics Festival Focuses on Eastern Europe
The inaugural Baba Jaga Fest, a Roman event dedicated to Eastern European comics and their connections to Italy, is scheduled from April 8 to 10, 2022, at Industrie Fluviali. Under the direction of Alessio Trabacchini and Serena Dovì, it emerged victorious in the Promozione Fumetto 2021 competition. Named after the Slavic character Baba Jaga, the festival will host exhibitions, workshops, and conversations about social transformations. Notable features include Eliana Albertini's 'Hotel Jugoslavia' and Maurizio Lacavalla's 'Le ricostruzioni del padre partito.' The collective exhibition 'Baltics Gone Wild' highlights emerging Baltic artists. The opening night will present Aleksandar Zograf's animated documentary, while workshops will cover screen printing and modern slavery discussions. Additional activities will run until April 30.
