B Comics Reveals Behind-the-Scenes Work in Rome Exhibition

A new exhibition at Studio Pilar in Rome, titled "B comics • Backstage," showcases around 200 sketches and drafts from 22 artists featured in the first two issues of the independent comics magazine "B comics • Fucilate a strisce" (Crack! and Gnam!). Curated by Maurizio Ceccato, the show reveals the preparatory work behind each comic story, some only four pages long. The magazine is published by IFIX, a visual communication studio, and focuses on Italian comics with onomatopoeia as a central theme. All contributing artists are first-time or lesser-known. The magazine is distributed through a network of independent bookshops across Italy, using a consignment model that bypasses traditional distribution. Ceccato emphasizes the value of print in a digital age, citing the tactile experience of paper. IFIX is self-funded and independent, with no state support. The exhibition runs until July 2, 2016.
