Ayoung Kim Wins Inaugural ACC Future Prize in South Korea

South Korea's National Asian Culture Center (ACC) has awarded its first biennial Future Prize to Seoul-based artist Ayoung Kim. The prize, worth KRW 300 million ($210,000), will fund a commissioned work at ACC Creation Space 1, a 1,560 square-meter venue in Gwangju. Kim's interdisciplinary practice spans video, VR, game simulation, and sonic fiction, exploring biopolitics and futuristic themes. The jury praised her 'distinctive approach' and 'multi-layered visual elements.' Her work is held in major collections including Tate, Kadist Foundation, and MMCA Seoul.
