AWARE Prize 2026 Awarded to Laura Gozlan and Soun-Gui Kim at Centre Pompidou

The AWARE (Archives of Women Artists Research & Exhibitions) Prize, now in its tenth edition and partnered with the Centre Pompidou, has announced its 2026 laureates. Laura Gozlan receives the Prix Nouveau Regard for mid-career artists, while Soun-Gui Kim is awarded the Prix d'honneur for a career spanning over forty years. Both artists will have works acquired for the collections of the Musée national d'art moderne. Gozlan, trained at the University of Art and Design Helsinki, ENSAD Paris, and Le Fresnoy in Tourcoing, creates hybrid works combining video, sculpture, and installation, often featuring her androgynous alter ego MuM. Kim, born in South Korea and based in France since 1971, moved from painting to participatory outdoor performances in the 1970s, later exploring video and collaborating with John Cage. Her work has been shown at MAMAC (1991), Centre Pompidou (2007), MMCA (2019), and ZKM (2022). The selection process involved four rapporteuses who nominated two artists each, with a jury of seven cultural figures chaired by Jeanne Brun, deputy director of collections at Centre Pompidou. Other nominees included C. B. Evans, Bettina Samson, and Saodat Ismailova. Last year's winners were Gabrielle Manglou (Prix Nouveau Regard) and Tsuneko Taniuchi (Prix d'honneur).
