Avelino Sala's First Madrid Institutional Exhibition at CentroCentro

CentroCentro in Madrid presents 'La tempestad. El jardín de los senderos que se bifurcan', the first institutional exhibition in the capital dedicated to Avelino Sala. Curated by Semíramis González and co-produced by LABoral, where it will travel in autumn, the show features a dozen installations addressing social issues such as migrations, environmental challenges, and capitalism's contradictions. Most works were specifically designed for this project, including 'La Biblioteca de Babel', which views books as memory and struggle artifacts sheltering histories of movements marginalized by official narratives, and the 'Washings', sculptures of globes intervened with color referencing the 'whitening' processes of capitalism's harsh realities. The exhibition critiques the system's tendency to turn urgent problems—like climate, gender equality, or social rights—into excuses for consumption or propaganda. Notions of control, border, and memory permeate the display. The exhibition runs until September.
