Avatar 2 release confirmed for December 2022
20th Century Studios president Steve Asbell confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter that Avatar 2 will be released in December 2022, ending years of delays. The sequel is the second of four planned films, with a family theme and new underwater setting on Pandora. Original cast members Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Sigourney Weaver (in a new role), and Stephen Lang return, joined by Vin Diesel and Kate Winslet. The story follows Jake and Neytiri's children who flee an ancient threat. Disney's marketing campaign will begin soon. The first Avatar (2009) earned $2.83 billion worldwide on a $237 million budget, winning an Oscar for visual effects. The four-film saga has a $1 billion budget from Disney-owned 20th Century Fox.
