Autumn 2001 Gallery Walk in Paris's 13th Arrondissement

In autumn 2001, a promenade through the galleries of Paris's 13th arrondissement revealed a series of exhibitions. At Almine Rech, Rebecca Bournigault presented works under the theme "sous le soleil exactement/pas à côté pas n'importe où," featuring a mural reading "I put the sun into my life" and a video of a man caressing a woman's hair. Robert Breer's sculptures and films were shown at GB Agency by Nathalie Boutin and Solène Guillier. At Air de Paris, drawings by Petra Mrzyk and Jean-François Moriceau were compared to Raymond Pettibon, whose latest work was at Christophe Daviet-Thery. François Curlet's Rorschach-test wallpaper, Lothar Hempel's theatrical installations at Art : Concept, and David Burrows's language-based works at Praz-Delavallade were also noted. Matthieu Laurette's self-portrait at Jousse Entreprise featuring Musée Grévin disappointed, as did Paola Pivi's op art at Emmanuel Perrotin and Sean Landers's neo-Picasso paintings at Jennifer Flay. Alessandro Mendini and Dan Friedman's furniture at an unnamed venue included cabinets titled "Double Dream."
