Autostrada Biennale: Kosovo's First Biennial in Prizren
The first-ever Autostrada Biennale kicked off in Prizren, Kosovo, and will run until September 23, 2017. Curated by Manray Hsu, the event, titled "The Future of Borders," presents 36 artworks, many made specifically for unique venues like a bus station, a castle, and private homes. An international advisory board, including Sislej Xhafa, Iara Boubnova, Sezgin Boynik, and others, is backing the biennial. Artists such as Libia Castro & Ólafur Ólafsson, Irwin, and Alban Muja are among those featured. The program also includes discussions and keynote talks on topics of borders and geopolitics, with a logo symbolizing bridges and crossings. Prizren is portrayed as a cultural hub overcoming its challenging past.
