AutoMindMap: AI Framework for Generating Mind Maps from Lecture Slides
A new initiative called Slides2MindMap has been unveiled by researchers to facilitate the automatic creation of mind maps from lecture slides, aimed at enhancing the way learners acquire fragmented knowledge in intelligent education. This task involves navigating the balance between global and local knowledge while managing extensive and diverse slide collections. To enable thorough evaluation, the team developed S2M-Bench, a benchmark featuring 12,774 slide pages with mind maps annotated by experts across 24 university courses. S2M-Bench incorporates a cognitive-science-based evaluation framework that includes ground-truth comparisons, structural conformity assessments, and VLM-as-a-Judge. To tackle this challenge, the researchers introduced AutoMindMap, a framework influenced by the Structure Building Framework.
