Autograph acquires 70,000+ images from Armet Francis estate

Autograph has acquired the complete photographic collection of Armet Francis, a Jamaican-British photographer, which adds over 70,000 images to its permanent archive. For over four decades, Francis captured the essence of the African diaspora, creating uplifting visuals that honor black resilience and survival. A trailblazer in the field of photography, he is celebrated for his contributions to social documentary, advertising, and fashion. His extensive archive features fashion shoots from Brixton Market in the 1970s that showcase black joy, as well as 2008 portraits commemorating the arrivals of HMT Empire Windrush, providing identities to the faces of those who migrated to Britain.
