Australian Youth Orchestra Opens Applications for 2027, Announces Singapore Partnership
The Australian Youth Orchestra (AYO) has opened applications for its 2027 programs, with a deadline of 3 August 2026. Founded over 75 years ago, AYO is a prestigious training organization for young musicians, offering orchestral training, composition, sound production, media, communications, and arts management. A key event is the National Music Camp in Adelaide each January. In 2026, AYO Symphonists will travel to Singapore for a collaboration with the Singapore National Youth Orchestra and the NZSO National Youth Orchestra, including a concert led by German conductor Christoph Altstaedt. Cellist Noah Lawrence, who joined AYO at 15 and is now a Fellow with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, credits AYO for his musical development and lifelong friendships. Scholarships are available, and application fees are waived for First Nations applicants. The application process includes a video audition.
