Austin Sandy Architects Transforms Dark Ranch into Light-Filled Family Home

Austin Sandy Architects has completed the renovation of Paraíso, a ranch-style house in the hills of Danville, California, transforming it into a bright family home. The original structure, a T-shaped house with a fragmented addition from the 1960s, had become dark and compartmentalized over the years. The new owners commissioned Austin Sandy for a complete rethink. The project, covering 2,700 square feet, was completed in 2025. The design team includes Joseph Sandy and Pete Austin, with general contracting by ASD Woodworks, interior design by EKR Design, and structural engineering by USE.
