Auriea Harvey retrospective at Museum of the Moving Image spans net art to blockchain sculpture

exhibition · 2026-04-26

Auriea Harvey, born in Indianapolis in 1971, is celebrated for her groundbreaking contributions to net art and experimental video games. A retrospective titled "My Veins Are the Wires, My Body Is Your Keyboard," curated by Regina Harsanyi, is currently on display at the Museum of the Moving Image in New York and will run until December 1, 2024. After obtaining a sculpture degree from Parsons School of Design, she shifted her focus to computers during the 1990s, launching entropy8.com, which garnered Webby Awards in both 1997 and 1998. In 1999, she teamed up with Michaël Samyn to create the duo Entropy8Zuper! Their studio, Tale of Tales, was ahead of the indie game movement, producing innovative works like The Graveyard (2008). Following some commercial challenges, they rebranded as Song of Songs in 2019. Currently, Harvey produces sculptural pieces derived from 3D scans, which she markets on the blockchain.
