Aurelio Repetto, influential Italian gallerist, dies at 90

Aurelio Repetto, who co-founded Bottega d'Arte in Acqui Terme in 1965, passed away on January 1, 2024, at the age of 90. He evolved from being an interior decorator to an art gallerist, presenting renowned artists such as Ennio Morlotti and Fausto Melotti. The gallery received support from critics like Luciano Caramel and Flaminio Gualdoni. Originally based at Liceo Saracco until 2000, it relocated to Officine Kaimano, returning to Liceo Saracco for its final exhibitions in 2004 before closing in 2006. Repetto remained active alongside his son Carlo, who established Repetto Gallery in London in 2007, moving it to Lugano in 2022, featuring artists like Christo and Dennis Oppenheim. Carlo remarked on the reduced influence of critics in the current art scene.
