architecture-design · 2026-08-03

On September 17, 2026, at 7 PM, Espacio Arquia located at c/ Tutor, 16 in Madrid will present the short film 'Amarar' as part of the AuletsArquitectura en Corto series. The title 'Amarar' highlights a traditional wood treatment method from Mallorca. This initiative, spearheaded by Francisco Cifuentes and Sebastián Martorell from Aulets Arquitectes, aims to convert local pines into valuable furniture and collaborates with the Universitat de les Illes Balears regarding wood usage in construction. Cifuentes points out that 95% of the forests on the islands are neglected, while 70,000 tons of wood are imported annually. Directed by Marc Hierro, the film addresses sustainable forest management and includes a discussion with Cifuentes, Martorell, and Albert Cuchí, focusing on renewable practices and community involvement. It also reflects on the August 2020 storm that devastated over 700 hectares in the Serra de Tramuntana.
