Augusto de Campos Receives Largest Retrospective at Sesc Pompeia

The exhibition REVER at Sesc Pompeia presents the most comprehensive survey of Augusto de Campos's work. Curated by Daniel Rangel, the show spans 65 years of the poet's career, displaying his "verbovicovisual" creations across video, sculpture, holography, and projection. Campos, a founder of the Noigandres group with Haroldo de Campos and Décio Pignatari in 1952, has long integrated technology into his practice. The exhibition includes pieces derived from his four major books: Viva Vaia (1979), Despoesia (1994), Não (2003), and Outro (2015). A central aim is to correct the historical oversight of Campos as an artist, not just a poet and critic. The show runs concurrently with Brazil's political turmoil, which Campos, a former state prosecutor, critiques as a "grotesque circus." He argues the impeachment of President Dilma Rousseff lacks legal foundation, contrasting the nation's "regression" with his own "work in progress."
