Augusto de Campos Celebrates 90 with LED Poem Installation at São Paulo's Mário de Andrade Library

exhibition · 2026-04-23

An extensive exhibition celebrating the 90th birthday of poet and visual artist Augusto de Campos is currently on display at the Biblioteca Mário de Andrade in São Paulo. Titled 'Poema cidadecitycité pela cidade,' the exhibit will be available until April 23, 2021. Curated by Daniel Rangel in collaboration with N+1 Arte Cultura, it features a 10-meter-long LED installation showcasing an audiovisual interpretation of 'cidadecitycité,' which was initially created for the 2016 exhibit 'REVER.' The exhibition presents various versions of the poem from 1963 to today, including prints and audio recordings. De Campos, a pioneer of concrete poetry alongside Haroldo de Campos and Décio Pignatari, is known for his strong political views. Additionally, another exhibition named 'Transletras' is planned for later this year at the same venue. The library is open Monday to Friday from 1 PM to 4 PM, with a limit of four visitors allowed at once.
