Audio Bricks Turns Lego-like Blocks into Modular Sound System
Designer Paolo Caviglia has developed Audio Bricks®, a modular audio system that repurposes standard building bricks as functional electronic components. The project uses patented adapters to bridge brick geometry with printed circuit boards for amplification, digital-to-analog conversion, switching, and volume control. Existing working prototypes include an amplifier, streamer, loudspeaker, and music center. The system is designed as an open structure that can be expanded incrementally, allowing users to replace only outdated modules while retaining the brick enclosure. This approach separates durable enclosures from replaceable electronics, reducing electronic waste. Audio Bricks® aims to make audio equipment assembly accessible through familiar construction logic, shifting from fixed ownership to continuous reconfiguration.
