Audemars Piguet and Ambush Collaborate on Limited-Edition Royal Oak Concept Flying Tourbillon

Audemars Piguet has released a limited-edition Royal Oak Concept Flying Tourbillon in collaboration with Yoon Ahn and Verbal, cofounders of Tokyo-based jewelry and fashion brand Ambush. Only 150 examples of the 38.5 mm timepiece will be produced. The watch features a bold red flying tourbillon at 6 o'clock, housed in an aluminum cage with an anodized red top plate—a first for Audemars Piguet. The red contrasts with a black aventurine dial, mirror-polished silver bevels, and 18-carat white-gold hands. The semi-openworked design reveals the Calibre 2982, a hand-wound movement offering 72 hours of power reserve and a 3 Hz frequency, built specifically for this collaboration. The titanium case features sandblasted, satin-brushed, and polished surfaces, while the sapphire and titanium caseback is engraved with "Audemars Piguet," "Y/V," and "Limited Edition." This is the first Royal Oak Concept in its size to have an interchangeable strap system, coming with both black and red rubber straps in a mosaic design. The watch is priced at approximately $225,000 (176,800 Swiss francs). The Royal Oak Concept line originated in 2002 to celebrate the anniversary of Gérald Genta's original Royal Oak design, known for avant-garde timepieces combining high horology with traditional codes.
