Atlante dell'Arte Contemporanea a Napoli e in Campania 1966-2016: A Monumental Survey

publication · 2026-05-05

The Madre museum's research department, led by Vincenzo Trione, has published 'Atlante dell'Arte Contemporanea a Napoli e in Campania 1966-2016' (Electa, 2017, 1088 pages, €120). The volume maps artists, galleries, institutions, and exhibitions in Naples and Campania over five decades. It follows earlier surveys by Angelo Trimarco and a 2005-2006 PAN exhibition curated by Lóránd Hegyi. The atlas includes an 'Album' section with visual narratives and literary excerpts. Some artists criticized omissions, but the editors note it is a periodically updated e-book starting point. The project began in 2013 under director Andrea Viliani.
