Ateliersi's 'Di bocca in bocca' Performance Animates Bologna's Pinacoteca Nazionale

The Pinacoteca Nazionale di Bologna hosted 'Di bocca in bocca,' a performance by the artistic collective Ateliersi. Fifteen participants ran through the museum, changing positions every five minutes to stand before a chosen artwork and perform a cognitive-expressive act. The event included whispered confidences to Guido Reni's mother, a young Chinese man shouting across the Carracci halls, and a woman tying colored ribbons at the feet of Cerrini's 'Allegoria della pittura.' Visitors mimicked warriors from the 'Battaglia di Clavijo,' and a voice seemingly emerged from Giotto's polyptych, citing Bredekamp and reflecting on the contemporary image. The performance animated the museum's static spaces, including the Mezzaratta room with its detached frescoes, for one evening. The project was a playful yet engaged intervention questioning the museum's role in an era where conservation alone seems insufficient.
