Atelier Write Transforms Tokyo Warehouse into Unravel Hair Salon
Atelier Write has completed the renovation of a timber warehouse in Tokyo's Kiyosumi-Shirakawa district into a hair salon named unravel. The 375-square-meter project, finished in 2026, was commissioned by client Hiroyuki Nagae to create a space that goes beyond conventional salon functions. The design accommodates seminars for hairdressers, photoshoots, and pop-up events by local shops. The project team includes lead architect Takuya Sakamoto, project management by PLANT, construction by TANK, signage by Hiyori Yamaguchi, and acoustic design by WHITELIGHT. Materials and products were sourced from Chiyoda ute, Karimoku New Standard, Kvadrat, Monotaro, and Tetsuya Japan. The salon is curated by Miwa Negoro. Photographs were taken by Kenta Hasegawa.
