Atelier SAD's Mountain Meadow House in Krkonoše National Park

architecture-design · 2026-04-29

Atelier SAD has completed a house in a mountain meadow within the Krkonoše National Park, a highly protected area of Czechia. The structure occupies the exact footprint of the original cottage, as new buildings are otherwise prohibited in this zone. The floor plan extends from south to north, resulting in a roof with a variable slope—45° in the south and 41° in the north. The project was led by architect Adam Jirkal, with a design team including Tomáš Kubák. The general contractor was TFH Dřevěné skeletové domy. Photographs were taken by Tomas Soucek. The house spans 225 m² and was completed in 2023. Manufacturers involved include Aluprof, Berker, Hoxter, Ligne Roset, Meyto, PREFA, and Roto. The project was curated by Hadir Al Koshta.
