Atelier Jolie opens in Basquiat's former studio with immigrant-run café

other · 2026-04-27

Angelina Jolie's Atelier Jolie has opened at 57 Great Jones Street in Manhattan, the former studio of Jean-Michel Basquiat. The space, leased in July 2023 for $60,000 per month, preserves the building's integrity and graffiti through careful restoration. It includes a production area where customers can customize garments with expert guidance, and a café operated by catering company EatOff Beat. EatOff Beat was founded by siblings Manal and Wissam Kahi, who are of Middle Eastern origin, and focuses on employing immigrants and refugees in New York under culinary consultant chef Juan Suarez De Lezo. The café serves homemade recipes from around the world, including dishes from Iran, Syria, Venezuela, Iraq, and Senegal. Atelier Jolie also involves students from Parsons School of Design. Customers can bring vintage fabrics or garments to be remade using deadstock and quality vintage materials. Prices range from $15 for a customizable white t-shirt to around $500 for exclusive pieces, with all proceeds going to charity.
