ASVOFF Fashion Film Festival Celebrates 10th Anniversary in Rome

festival-fair · 2026-05-04

ASVOFF – A Shaded View on Fashion Film, the pioneering fashion film festival founded by Diane Pernet, marks its tenth anniversary with a special edition in Rome from October 20 to 22, 2018. The event is part of Videocittà, a larger audiovisual and cinema festival, and is curated by Alessio de’ Navasques with support from Bulgari. A new contest titled 'Your personal affair with Rome' invites one-minute short films on the theme of Rome's relationship with sartorial creativity and moving image, with submissions due by October 8. The festival will screen selected entries alongside its regular competition. The program includes fashion films and talks with directors, producers, and writers. Highlights include 'Make/Believe the story of an influencer,' 'Can’t Nobody Else Love You' by Ivan Olita, 'A.K.A. Susan Bottomly' by Michel Haddi, and a tribute to John Malkovich for his three fashion films for Bella Freud. Julian Landais presents a preview of 'The Aspern Papers,' starring Jonathan Rhys Meyers and Vanessa Redgrave. The jury, chaired by Rossy de Palma and Jean Paul Gaultier, includes ORLAN, Élisabeth Quin, Michèle Lamy, Rick Owens, and Eric Daman. ASVOFF has previously been hosted at the Centre Pompidou, Cannes Film Festival, Art Basel Miami, Guggenheim, CaixaForum Barcelona, and Barbican London, bridging fashion and contemporary art.
