Assab One's 'Grand Tour en Italie' Reimagines 18th-Century Travel Through Contemporary Art

exhibition · 2026-05-04

From January 27 to February 22, 2019, Milan's Assab One features an exhibition titled 'Grand Tour en Italie.' Curated by Michela Eremita and Susanna Ravelli, it highlights works by nine artists who engaged in a residency in Palermo as part of Manifesta 12. This collaboration, joined by Associazione Grand Tour en Italie, Wandering Art, and Residency Programme, revisits the 18th-century Grand Tour routes, starting from Palermo. The participating artists, including Maura Banfo and Pierluigi Pusole, spent ten days capturing their experiences across various artistic forms. A publication named 'Il Diario di viaggio' was released, merging contemporary perspectives with historical travel stories.
