Asia Pacific Triennial 11th Edition Opens in Brisbane with 500+ Works from 70 Artists

exhibition · 2026-04-19

From November 30, 2024, until April 27, 2025, the 11th Asia Pacific Triennial of Contemporary Art (APT11) will be held at the Queensland Art Gallery | Gallery of Modern Art (QAGOMA) in Brisbane. This event showcases over 500 pieces created by 70 artists and collectives, intentionally avoiding a single theme to encourage diverse connections. Bilingual labels on the walls improve accessibility. Among the standout installations are Mit Jai Inn's piece situated in QAG's shallow pool and Brett Graham's impressive nine-meter-tall Cease Tide of Wrong-Doing (2020). Key themes explored include First Nations perspectives, ecological concerns, labor, and the contributions of women. In 2026, the exhibition will make its northern hemisphere debut at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.
