Asia Forum 2026: Minor Feelings at Venice Biennale

Asia Forum 2026, titled 'Minor Feelings,' will take place on May 9, 2026, at Fondazione Querini Stampalia in Venice, coinciding with the 61st Venice Biennale 'Minor Keys' curated by Koyo Kouoh. The forum borrows its concept from poet Cathy Park Hong's work on the Asian diaspora's emotional register when lived reality contradicts dominant narratives. It explores the 'minor' as a power structure in music and culture, questioning who is made minor and by whose authority. The programme includes conversations, artistic interventions, and screenings addressing 'minor-majorities,' solidarity, and anti-colonial practices of rest and love. Participants include artists Gabrielle Goliath, Ong Kian Peng, Khaled Sabsabi, Kandis Williams, Patty Chang, Lynn Lu, Natasha Tontey, Jon Cuyson, and collective FAC XTRA RETREAT (FXR). Curators and speakers include Denise Ryner, Zairong Xiang, Ryan Inouye, Liz Park, X Zhu-Nowell, Binna Choi, Selene Yap, and Rahul Gudipudi. Screenings feature 'We Are All Mothers' (2022) by Patty Chang, 'Amnion' (2022) by Lynn Lu, and 'Monster, She Wrote' (2025) by Natasha Tontey. The forum is organized by Annie Jael Kwan, Hammad Nasar, John Tain, and Ming Tiampo.
