Asia Art Archive Renovates Hong Kong Library, Showcases Selections at Documenta
After deciding against relocating, Chris Ho and John Tain, in collaboration with Claire Hsu, the founder of Asia Art Archive, revamped the Hong Kong library of the Asia Art Archive. This upgrade enhanced public access to 120,000 records related to art history. A selection of these resources was showcased at Documenta in Kassel during the summer, including footage from the postcolonial Faculty of Fine Arts in Vadodara, India, the Thai feminist collective Womanifesto, and materials from performance-art festivals in East and Southeast Asia. Additionally, the archive's initiatives this year featured talks on Punjab-era communist publications, the launch of Huang Xiaopeng's archives, and a mobile library in Nepal. The archive also received $25,000 from the Hauser & Wirth Institute to digitize Pakistani modernist Zahoor ul Akhlaq's papers, emphasizing its commitment to modest but impactful regional projects.
