Ashworth Parkes Architects Completes Contemporary Farmhouse in Hertfordshire
Ashworth Parkes Architects has completed a contemporary farmhouse in North Hertfordshire, United Kingdom, in 2024. The 606 m² residence replaces a dilapidated 1940s dwelling on a former market garden site. The design team, led by Ashworth Parkes Architects, aimed to create a new structure that feels rooted in the rural vernacular, as though it had always been there. The project was curated by Hadir Al Koshta, with general contracting by Dean & Dean Construction. Structural engineering was provided by Cambridge Architectural Research, and MEP consulting by JG Consulting. Photographs were taken by Matthew Smith. Materials used include Wienerberger, Maxlight, Petersen Tegl, VM zinc, Velfac, and Whippletree. The site offers open, exposed landscapes with spectacular views across the surrounding countryside.
