Ascoli Piceno Opens Spazio Premio Licini, a Gallery for Artists Over 64

In Ascoli Piceno, the Arte Contemporanea Picena association, led by artistic director Alessandro Zechini and president Andrea Valentini, has opened Spazio Premio Licini, a new gallery dedicated exclusively to artists over 64. The space, inaugurated in late 2023 near Piazza del Popolo, complements the Premio Licini by Fainplast, which is reserved for painters under 64. The gallery's inaugural exhibition features Maurizio Mochetti, a key figure of the Italian neo-avant-garde, showcasing twelve works from the 1960s to the 1990s, including drawings, projects, and camouflage pieces. Curated by Zechini, the show highlights Mochetti's conceptual approach to space, void, and horizon, with works like 'Raggio di sole' (1965) and 'Freccia Nera' (1974). The exhibition runs until January 14, 2024. Future programming includes a solo show by Alfredo Pirri in spring. The gallery, housed in a historic building, also includes guest quarters and plans to expand to another floor.
