Asad Raza to Direct FRONT International 2025
Asad Raza has been named the Artistic Director for the third edition of FRONT International: Cleveland Triennial for Contemporary Art, scheduled from July 16 to October 5, 2025. Raza, who created two commissioned pieces for FRONT 2022—Delegation, a musical performance on Lake Erie, and Orientation, a public sculpture crafted from mussel shells—will emphasize themes of ecology, geography, and human systems. He takes over from Michelle Grabner (2018) and Prem Krishnamurthy (2022). Previously, Raza has collaborated with the Venice Architecture Biennale (2014), LUMA Arles, and notable figures like Hans Ulrich Obrist and Tino Sehgal. Originally from Buffalo, New York, he now splits his time between New York and Leipzig, expressing enthusiasm for Cleveland and a desire to investigate connections among cultures and beings. Additionally, Magdalena Moskalewicz has been appointed Chief Curator, transitioning from her seven-year tenure at the Art Institute of Chicago.
