Arup's Dajti Village Brings Fragmented Timber Housing to Albania's Mountainscape

Dajti Village, a residential and aparthotel project situated on the Dajti plateau above Tirana, Albania, has been conceived by Arup Architecture Madrid. This development employs a fragmented spatial approach that aligns with the natural slopes of the steep, wooded terrain rather than adhering to strict geometric forms. The design features two main buildings with pitched roofs and timber facades that reduce their mass into smaller, more approachable segments. A central platform connects these structures and provides communal areas, while parking is partially integrated below. The lightweight timber skin covers a concrete framework, and deep balconies and verandas extend the living spaces outdoors. Dajti Village will be showcased at the Bread & Heart Festival on June 3, 2026.
