ArtVerona's i10 Indipendenti Contest Celebrates 10 Years with Open Call
The i10 – Spazi Indipendenti section of ArtVerona, curated by Cristiano Seganfreddo, marks its tenth edition with an open call for non-profit associations and collectives working in contemporary languages. The deadline has been extended to May 20, 2019. Since its inception in 2009, the project has involved 200 independent Italian spaces and mapped over 500. In 2014 it became a prize with an annual theme; in 2017 it partnered with MAXXI and its The Independent platform. For this anniversary, the theme is "Release." Fourteen selected groups will be hosted at the 15th edition of ArtVerona (October 11–13, 2019) and featured on MAXXI's dedicated platform. One winner will receive €2,000, present a statement on MAXXI's The Independent wall, and get coverage in Artribune. Seganfreddo describes the initiative as an empirical seismograph of the Italian situation, highlighting spaces as active resistance points that foster community and cross-disciplinarity with dance, music, and design. Notable past participants include Dolomiti Contemporanee, Connecting Cultures, Mars/Cars, and Boite.
