ArtVerona Digital Charity Auction for Cystic Fibrosis Research

market-auction · 2026-04-27

ArtVerona, this year entirely digital, has partnered with Fondazione Ricerca Fibrosi Cistica (FFC) for a charity auction called L'Arte per FFC, running until January 10, 2021, on the Insight section of the ArtVerona Digital platform. Two works are up for auction: Arborea by Annalù (born 1976 in San Donà di Piave) and ULTRA by Andrea Bianconi (born 1974 in Arzignano), represented respectively by galleries Punto sull'Arte of Varese and La Giarina of Verona. Each work has a starting bid of €20,000. The initiative aims to raise funds and awareness for cystic fibrosis, a disease with no cure. Annalù, a healthy carrier of cystic fibrosis, created Arborea as a modern Dryad sculpture with carved holes and shapes corresponding to the lungs, symbolizing a regenerative force that gives breath. Bianconi's ULTRA is described as a "graphic dissemination" with small arrows radiating outward from a central nucleus. His previous collaboration with FFC included the Sit Down to Have an Idea project, featuring an artist's chair exhibited across Italy. Annalù stated that discovering she was a carrier through a test made her realize her art could support research, leading her to contact FFC. It is estimated that 1 in 25 people in Italy are healthy carriers, often unaware.
