Arturo Herrera's 2006 Collage Exhibition at Sikkema Jenkins & Co.

Arturo Herrera showcased 40 mixed media collages at Sikkema Jenkins & Co. in New York from October 21 to November 25, 2006. Each piece measured 98 ½ x 48 ½ inches, creating a cohesive format that highlighted variations on a visual theme. The collages were inspired by illustrations of a young boy and an old dwarf playing an accordion, though these references became nearly unrecognizable in most works. Only "#6BF4" (2006) and "#29 BF3" (2006) retained recognizable elements of the boy's face and instrument. Herrera incorporated wallpaper and op-art motifs, featuring vibrant color combinations. While some pieces like "#24BB5" (2006) displayed clear linear clusters, others created fragmented surfaces through overlapping patterns, maintaining visual intrigue throughout the exhibition.
