Artsper Founder Interviewed by artpress for Art Paris 2022
In a partnership with artpress for Art Paris 2022 (April 7–10), Artsper founder François-Xavier Trancart discusses the platform's mission to democratize art buying. Launched in 2013, Artsper connects buyers with galleries and is now the European leader in online art sales. Trancart explains that the platform targets first-time buyers (nearly 50% of purchasers) by removing psychological and geographical barriers. Artsper works with 1,800 galleries, offering over 170,000 works across mediums. Galleries are selected based on seriousness, dynamism, and ethics, not size or prestige. The platform is internationalized with English, German, and Spanish versions; 60% of sales by value are in Europe, 30% in North America, and 10% elsewhere. Artsper also provides online exhibitions and an interview with Art Paris general commissioner Guillaume Piens. The interview is the first of two episodes; the second features 'artpress baskets' from the Art Paris selection.
