ArtRio 2020 Launches Hybrid Fair with EAV Parque Lage Collection and New Casa ArtRio Space

ArtRio 2020 is set to take place from October 14 to 18, featuring a hybrid format that includes a scaled-down in-person event at Marina da Glória alongside an extensive online platform. Among the highlights is the 'Amigo EAV' collection from Escola de Artes Visuais do Parque Lage, showcasing limited-edition multiples starting at R$1,800, with proceeds benefiting public programs and scholarships for emerging artists from underprivileged backgrounds. Works donated by notable artists such as Antônio Dias, Brígida Baltar, and Ernesto Neto will be available, offering a 20% discount for program members. The in-person fair will accommodate around 40 galleries, enforcing strict safety measures like limited attendance and mandatory masks. The online platform enables gallery exploration, artwork viewing, and direct communication with gallerists, along with online discussions and performances. Additionally, Casa ArtRio will launch in Jardim Botânico, hosting lectures and exhibitions, while the MIRA video art project, curated by Victor Gorgulho, will feature artists chosen through Instagram during the fair week. Yole Mendonça, director of EAV Parque Lage, emphasizes the institution's ongoing commitment to its role as a space of resistance, leveraging virtual opportunities for broader outreach.
