Artribune's 2016 Children's Book Gift Guide: From Art History to Veggie Dinosaurs
Artribune presents a selection of illustrated books for children, blending art, science, and history. Anna Crespi's "Cerchiamo insieme" (Mursia, 2016, €8) features a cover by Tullio Pericoli and a preface by Carla Fracci, telling a meta-literary fairy tale about a grandmother and granddaughter. Hélène Druvert's "Anatomia" (L'ippocampo, 2016, €19.90), created with her father Jean-Claude, uses intricate laser-cut illustrations to explore human anatomy, including reproductive systems, advocating for scientific education. "Hatshepsut" (L'Asino d'oro, 2016, €25) by Alessandra Grimaldi, Laurie Elie, and Forough Raihani recounts the story of the female pharaoh Hatshepsut (born circa 1505 BCE), with dual-level text for different ages and illustrations inspired by Egyptian art. Marcello Jori's "La storia dipinta dell'arte" (Rizzoli, 2016, €60) is a hand-painted art history from origins to Christo's 2016 installation on Lake Iseo, developed with Flash Art and Giancarlo Politi. Smriti Pradadam-Halls and Katherina Manolessou's "T-Veg" (Electa, 2015, €14.90) tells the story of a vegetarian dinosaur, promoting respect over tolerance. The article also promotes Artribune's newsletters and WhatsApp channel.
